When is the best time to get married?
Seasons and weather, time of day, and location all play a role in when you can hold your wedding ceremony. In general, you can get married any time of year and any time of day. The weather may dictate the type of clothing you and your guests will wear. An outdoor wedding in Wales would be more suited to warmer summer months… where you can appreciate the landscape as well as the sunshine. Or you make umbrellas and wellies part of the dress code – all up to you to decide!
Typically, couples who have winter ceremonies opt for indoor nuptials, so they can enjoy log fires and cosy lighting. Outdoor weddings tend to fall in Spring and Summer months, so beachside locations or fields of hay can provide a stunning backdrop. However today’s couples are increasingly breaking with convention, hosting their weddings whenever and however they please.
The right time to get married
The time of year also affects the availability of flowers, but they shouldn’t dictate the timing of your ceremony. There are plenty of beautiful bouquet options available to couples, so you can still have stunning blooms. An experienced florist will be able to help you decide what’s available and work with you to create gorgeous arrangements.
The weather is also a factor to consider when deciding when to hold your ceremony. If you’re planning an outdoor ceremony, you’ll be wise to have a back-up plan for a change in forecast. While weather is always an important consideration, don’t let a little rain stop you from having the outdoor ceremony of your dreams. With a little planning and preparation, you can hold your wedding ceremony whenever the mood strikes you.
You may also want to consider the time of day when choosing your ceremony time. Many couples opt for a daytime ceremony, making the most of natural lighting. Daylight means beautiful photographs, although outdoors can be uncomfortable in the heat of the midday sun. Another thing to consider is the duration of your ceremony. Having the ceremony in the morning or afternoon leaves plenty of time for other activities you have planned for your special day.
Married by sunset
If you’re planning a nighttime ceremony, you’ll want to be sure that the temperature will be warm enough for your guests. For outdoor weddings, extra blankets or heaters to keep guests comfortable. A unique wedding ceremony idea is to consider having a twilight ceremony. This is becoming increasingly popular for couples who want to do something different. Twilight ceremonies also have the added benefit of being more easily scheduled around seasons. If you’re getting married in the summertime, dusk is the perfect time to celebrate when the heat of the day has eased but there’s still plenty of light.
Sunsets are often seen as the most romantic time of day, making them the perfect timing for your wedding ceremony. You and your partner will exchange vows with the stunning backdrop of changing colours in the sky above. The evening light will add a beautiful glow to your photos, and you’ll have lasting memories of your special day. Alternatively, if you’re getting married in the wintertime, a twilight ceremony can make use of the extra hours of darkness. Create a truly magical atmosphere with fairy lights, lanterns.. And maybe some fireworks too!
